Youth and Children’s Work

Welcome Baptist Church offer many activities throughout the year for both Children and Teenagers. Details of weekly youth groups and other activities are listed below:

Sunday Morning:

J.A.M.

J.A.M is the Church’s unique take on Sunday school!

It’s for kids from pre-school to Year 6, who leave the morning service at approximately 11am. It aims to provide great fun, excellent teaching from the Bible, and encouragement for children to live for Jesus.

Alongside children’s work during a sunday service, Welcome Baptist church has several groups that meet during the week for all age ranges:

Please note: Youth and children’s groups do not meet during half terms or school holidays.

Young People

  • Welcome Youth Theatre

    Mondays
    Juniors (reception-year3) 4-5pm
    Seniors (year 4 ) 5pm-6pm
    Have fun in this exciting drama class exploring drama skills including movement, mime, improvisation, voice and script work, through drama games and exercises. A great way to gain confidence and make new friends. By joining WYT you will also have opportunities to perform through-out the year, so if you want to get into acting, this is the place to be. No previous experience necessary.

  • GAP - School Years 7 to 10

    This group meets on Wednesdays from 6:15 – 7:45 pm and is open to all young people from 11 to 14 (year 7 to year 10), led by Jeff & Jackie Selby and supported by other young leaders
    The group provides positive activities which include film nights, chill out evenings, football, games and quizzes. Outings include Swimming, bowling and laser quest.

  • After 8s - School Years 11 and up

    This group meets on Wednesdays from 8-9.30 pm and is open to all young people from 15 upwards. It is led by Jeff & Jackie Selby.The group provides positive activities which are aimed towards a greater level of maturity.

  • Duke of Edinburgh

    The Church also runs the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, which is open to any young people in year 9 and above.  There is an open evening every October for new participants who want to join the award scheme. The award is led by Roger and Mary Stevenson and their team of helpers who support young people who want to complete the scheme all the way through to their gold award.

  • Drama Fun

    An exciting drama group for little ones that will explore a different theme or story each week
    Tuesday 10am-10.45am and together with Boogie Beats on

    Thursday at 13.45pm -14.30pm (ish)

  • Welcome Boogie Beats

    If your child likes to dance, wiggle or jiggle about then bring them along to this class to learn basics of dance, such a rhythm and co-ordination.
    Tuesday 11am – 11.45am and combined with Drama Fun on

    Thursday at 13.45pm -14.30pm (ish)

3 and under

  • Welcome Toddlers


    Wednesday

    Welcome toddlers. (cake club!) £1 per child/£1.50 per family

    9.30am – 12noon

    Welcome toddlers is a fun place to bring your child on Wednesday mornings from 9.30am-12noon during term time. Each session includes a dedicated baby area with bouncers and mats, free play, crafts, singing and snack. Our main aim is to make everyone feel relaxed, valued and supported. We provide a place for you to meet, chat and make friends in a relaxed atmosphere while your babies and toddlers play safely.

  • Little Fish

    Starting Friday 23rd February: Little Fish baby and toddler group
    £1 per child/£1.50 per family
    Little Fish is a fun place to bring your child on Friday mornings from 9.30am-11.30am during term time. Each session includes a dedicated baby area with bouncers and mats, free play, interactive story time, rhythm and rhyme time and snack. Our main aim is to make everyone feel relaxed, valued and supported. We provide a place for you to meet, chat and make friends in a relaxed atmosphere while your babies and toddlers play safely.
